Dinner (Friday)
I had planned to have a nice roast chicken for dinner, but drink got me first. I didn't get back until 12 or so, so I just had some mackeral and onion sandwiches.

Dinner
Ah, steak!
Steak, potatoes, asparagus, tomato, with a cream and mustard sauce. I couldn't eat it all; stuffed! Still managed to have an Aero with my coffee though.

Dinner
Bangers and Mash: it really does look awful. Hell, what kind of camera am I using anyhow?
Chicken sandwich to start. Then mash, beans and a medley of sausages; Polish, Romanian and South African. A lot of garlic in the Eastern European sausages made the South African one the best for me, but I was not overjoyed by any of them. Slightly disappointed.

Dinner
Believe me, it tasted a lot better than it looks
Creamy Chicken Curry a la Delia Smith. Ran out of green peppers, so used a leek instead. Excellent if I do say so myself. Of course the problem with going by a recipe is that you cook for four. I could only eat half.

Dinner (Saturday)
Seafood gumbo. Well, it started out as a seafood stew, but I thought I'd add some rice. Nice. All the usual suspects; mussels, squid, prawns. Penguin to follow with coffee. The bar, not the bird. Even Moore Street doesn't seem to stock them.

Snack
Okay, so I had a Christmas chocolate bar from Germany. I confess. It was lovely. Thanks Mia and Lucy. (But I won't mention the beer.)
Dinner
Rainbow trout, fries and mushrooms. Trout is criminally under-rated, I think. I much prefer it to salmon. A far better fish.

Dinner
Sunday dinner with the folks, so there had to be a joint involved, of the meat rather than vegetative variety. Smoked salmon and brown bread to start, roast beef, roast potatoes and cauliflower to follow, and orange trifle with cream to follow that.
Lunch
Maasdam cheese and tomato sandwich with cereal bar to follow. Tomato gives me indigestion, but I love the combination.

Dinner
I tried a cheapo Chinese restaurant on Parnell Street after a couple of recommendations. A lamb soup to start and sizzling seafood with boiled rice for a main course was filling enough. In contrast to most of the Chinese restaurants I've been in (such as on Capel Street), the seafood actually featured pieces of fish as well as the usual seafood sticks, squid florets etc.. The mussels were proper mussels too. Not bad at all, but a bit of work on the restaurant itself wouldn't hurt.

Breakfast
Huge! Yogurt, apple, juice and cardboard 'fruit' snack. It should be said all morning juice is accompanied by vitamin, omega 3 and glucosamine supplements. So there.
Snack
Cup of soup - Beef and Vegetable - poured into the hot water instead of the other way around. Gross until dissolved, pretty gross again when consumed. Better than wasting money on the restaurant's idea of breakfast though.
I'll mention yesterday because it was a first. With a stack of root vegetables, I tried braised stuffed lambs hearts with vegetables. I did it all a little messily, but not unsuccessfully. As it happened heart is lovely. Something of the texture of kidney or liver, but with a meatier taste. The lamb flavour was certainly noticeable. I liked it. Sadly the veg was a little too sweet as an accompaniment, especially with a stuffing that included lemon peel. I'm a savoury guy. Still another tick on the list and one I will revisit.
Tonight I had lamb again, or rather mutton dressed as lamb. Basmati rice and Lamb Rogan Josh. Just a jar I'm afraid, though I added celery, onions, shallots, cumin and some fresh tomatoes. Tasty, but mutton dressed as lamb is still mutton. I left it as long as I could but it was still a little tough.
For the record, lunch was potato and leek soup, breakfast juice and a hazelnut yogurt.
