A hot dog and some dry roasted peanuts.

I took my mother out for Mother's Day. Steak, egg and chips in the Mermaid Cafe. My steak was fine, but overall neither of us were very impressed. A slice of carrot cake was had later.

Many of my friends rate Dunne and Crescenzi, so I ended up there for lunch. We sent back the water glasses as they were dirty, but the starter, a platter of antipasti was lovely. I risked oxtail with polenta. The polenta I could take or leave, but I was finding the oxtail a little too gristly for my liking when I found a black hair sticking out of my next forkful. I didn't eat too much more.

I was at a wedding so I ad melon to start, then vegetable soup, turkey and ham with veg and a medley of desserts to follow.

A pork sandwich and a toasted cheese sandwich, not to mention 2 cups of tea that were very, very greatly appreciated. I appreciate my parents for so, so much more.

My hospital visit meant I ate nothing all day except a Wispa I had in my pocket and half the pack of beef-flavoured crisps I could manage from the vending machine.
